Key learnings

This podcast's key learnings are:

  • Before diving into nutrition recommendations, start by understanding your athlete's nutritional habits, preferences and performance goals to tailor your recommendations.
  • Think about habit stacking. Identify opportunities within the athlete's daily routine and training schedule to integrate nutritional strategies and education.
  • Tailor your approach to the environment. For example, a team environment might require more practical on-the-ground nutrition solutions compared to a 1.1 consultation.
  • The more information you have the more you can tailor your support. Don't undersestimate the power of good listening and asking open questions to build rapport with your athlete.

With guest speaker Mike Naylor, Head of Nutrition for the English Institute of Sport (BSc, MSc, SENr)
